OUR PROGRAMS

The Western Kennebec Economic Development Alliance administers a variety of programs that are aimed at supporting existing local business, and attracting new businesses to the region. We strive to support and attract businesses of all sizes--from single-person operations to medium and large sized enterprises.

Key programs are summarized below.

If you would like more details about any of the programs, or are interested in participating, please contact our Executive Director, Amy Lawson at (207) 377-2401.

General Consulting
WKEDA is able to provide general consulting services to member towns.  For example---business and asset inventories, community planning, and business plan review.
In addition, WKEDA is sometimes able to assist member towns with the cost of specialty consulting, like land use review.

Grant Writing
WKEDA provides grant writing and grant finding services to member-towns, local non-profits, and area businesses free of charge.

Targeted Business Recruitment
WKEDA works with local property owners and real estate agents to attract and recruit businesses that are appropriate for the available property in the region.

The Winthrop Area Business Park
WKEDA developed the Winthrop Area Business Park in the early 1980's, and is still responsible for the overall management of the park.  Currently, the business park (located on Route 202 in Winthrop) houses Columbia Classic Cars, Filter Belts, National Filter Media, and Goldbridge Partners.  One buildable lot is available for purchase. Please call (207) 377-2401 for more information.
