FEATURED STORY
WKEDA Launches Project Development Fund
WKEDA is introducing two new community resources, aimed at financially assisting local businesses as they relocate to, start up, or seek to grow in the Western Kennebec Region. The WKEDA Project Development Fund and the Readfield Enterprise Fund are both in final development stages.
The Project Development Fund is a unique partnership between WKDEA and the region’s financial institutions. The fund will underwrite essential project development and research costs for new business enterprises and community development in the region. The Readfield Revolving Loan Fund will provide small business loans to aid existing and start-up small businesses in that town.
The WKEDA Project Development Fund will provide assistance to large-scale economic development projects. The Fund might finance a feasibility study, planning and design, environmental scans, and/or capital improvements depending on the needs and details of a specific project. Funds might also be used to support the recruitment of new businesses from outside the region.
Current and potential projects include the development of a solar farm on a former Superfund site, the redevelopment of a dilapidated commercial corridor, revitalization of an historic downtown center, and a collaborative outdoor recreation business incubator.
If you think your business could benefit from The Project Development Fund or The Readfield Enterprise Fund, contact WKEDA for additional details.
